012 - The former Long
Island Trading Post.

013 - Continuing the drive
into camp brings us to the Otter Shelter. As I was scanning this
picture, with the rock-lined entrance, I couldn't help but think of
all of the Scouts who have been lucky enough to have been part of
the OSR experience over the years.

014 - In
2001 the Council House had been closed and unused for years, and
many people predicted it was past the point where it could be
repaired and reused. Happily history would prove them wrong.

015 - The
former Bobcat Program Shelter, also used as the JLTC Shelter, is our first stop on a tour of the old
Council House Loop.

018 -
Looking at the road it's hard to believe this was once a heavily
traveled part of camp.
|
|
019 - In
many cases the only sign of a former camp site was a decrepit
latrine and wash stand hidden back in the trees.

|
020 -
The James E. West Sshelter has been completely rebuilt and features a
sleek-looking metal roof.

021 -
Gowanus is one of the largest sites in camp, and is located on the
Long House Loop near the Teddy Roosevelt shelter.
