Items from the Trading Post

If you go to Onteora today and visit the Trading Post there are all sorts of items with an Onteora logo on them. When I went to camp, though, there were just some postcards and that year's patch. The Trading Post did stock a number of other useful items straight out of the official Boy Scouts of America catalog - and some very much enjoyed snacks - but there were very few "Onteora" items.

Over the years that has changed and there are way too many items for me to keep track of for display here on this site. It would also cost me a small fortune to acquire them all and I shudder to think how much space they would take up. All of the items in this section of the site are vintage items. If you know of any others from the earlier days of Onteora or Wauwepex please let me know.

Banners

Felt banners were big sellers at souvenir shops in the 40s through the 60s. Wouldn't these look great up on your wall?

Coffee Mugs - Onteora

After collecting patches and neckerchiefs from Onteora and Wauwepex for many years, I was surprised one day to see an ad in a catalog for coffee mugs from the two camps. Inevitably, more mugs followed in the years after that first box arrived. After spending way too much money I am now the proud owner of boxes full of mugs, and I don't even like coffee. I imagine most of these were bought by Scoutmasters and other adults. In Scouting collecting circles there are many jokes posted about people being buried in collections of mugs. Speaking of collections, there are quite a few mugs on display in the windows of the camp Administration Building.

Here are some of the ones I've collected so far, with more pictures coming when I find time to photograph them.
