- I received a very generous donation of Camp Wauwepex material from the 1940s and an pleased to share it all on the site. Dr. John Ternes sent me items that had been saved by his father-in-law, James Briggs. James had been a camper and staff member at Wauwepex and he saved some fascinating newsletters that provided details on how the camp operated in the 1940s. I have added them to the Miscellaneous Information page. He also sent applications for camping for the 1945 and 1946 seasons, which are also on that page. From the newsletters and from other material in the package I was able to create staff rosters for 1941, 1942, 1944, 1945, 1946, and 1947; they are all on the Staff Rosters page. There was also a Newsday article from October 30, 1944 about the Teddy Roosevelt Pilgrimage, and a copy of James' Eagle Scout letter from National; these are also on the Miscellaneous Information page. I hope you will enjoy this wealth of new information about Camp Wauwepex as much as I do,
