From my journal of 1967:
Left Kiva & ate in La Junta. Crossed into Kansas. Went into "wheat belt". Arrived in Manhattan, Kansas & went to Ft. Riley - very huge. Saw "Rough Time in Jericho" (Dean Martin, George Peppard, very good).
This was one of our more boring days. About all I can remember is how flat it was outside the bus, and fields of sunflowers and wheat as we drove through Kansas. Evidently it was all so boring that I didn't take a single picture.
